The medical treatment of cancer frequently involves a combination of antineoplastic drugs, including traditional chemotherapy and biotherapy agents. Extravasation and infusion reactions are two potential challenges that infusion nurses face. Join us to review patient case studies and participate in a patient-focused discussion to determine how to manage these complications.

Objectives

  1. Identify patient and treatment-related risk factors for extravasation and infusion reactions.
  2. Identify nursing actions to manage acute complications of intravenous chemotherapy/biotherapy infusions.
  3. Discuss current evidence-based practice recommendations in the management of extravasation and infusion-related reactions.
